Employee Profiles - Steve

Prior to joining Johnsons, Steve built a long and dedicated career within local authority waste management. Beginning in April 1995 as an HGV driver, he gained extensive hands-on experience and steadily progressed through the organisation. In 2012, he was promoted to Shift Controller, taking on increased responsibility for operational coordination and team support. His 23-year tenure concluded in 2018 with Nottingham City Council, leaving with a strong foundation in transport and logistics.

Steve joined Johnsons in April 2018 as a driver and has since demonstrated consistent development and commitment to the business. Over the past eight years, he has progressed through key roles including Transport Planner, ultimately advancing to the position of Transport Manager.

In his current role as Transport Manager, Steve is responsible for overseeing the planning and coordination of transport operations. This includes managing drivers and vehicles, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, optimising routes for efficiency, and maintaining high standards to deliver a safe and reliable service.

Steve commented “I’ve always taken pride in keeping things moving safely and efficiently, it’s rewarding to be part of a team that delivers a reliable service every day. Seeing how everything comes together, from planning to delivery, and knowing I’ve played a key role in that, keeps me motivated.”

Outside of work, Steve enjoys weight training and walking his dog. He also has a creative side, with a particular interest in building adult LEGO sets as a way to relax and unwind.
